Office Carpet Spills? What to do?

Despite what business sector you work in, with employees eating in the office and making numerous cups of tea and coffee, office carpet spills are inevitable. The question is, how do you deal with those annoying office carpet spills?

How do I clean my office carpet spills?
These accidents can happen at any time to everyone, perhaps someone overfilled their coffee cup or slopped their soup on the floor. As professional cleaners, we deal with commercial carpet cleaning in offices, week in, week out, however the chances of us being there when these spillages actually happen are rather unlikely. Whatever the spillage we have put together some tips on what you can do to deal with it yourself whilst minimising any long-term damage being made to your carpets!

What do I need to clean my office carpet?
First things first, don’t panic! If the spillage is a drink, grab an absorbent kitchen towel or other material to soak up as much of the liquid as possible. If it’s food, carefully remove the substance from the carpet and again use an absorbent kitchen towel to soak up as much as possible of the sauces or oils etc left behind.

Once you have got out as much of the liquid as possible it’s time to start working on the remaining residue. Please note if using any supermarket brands for this, quite often they contain bleach and other strong cleaning substances that can damage your carpet further. Always be sure to read the ingredients before using on your carpets targeted areas.

An alternative option to the supermarket brands is to use our Ideal Cleaning Professional Spotter. With a white cotton cloth, soak some of the spotter into part of it then apply to the spillage working from the outside of the spill inwards. It is important that you do not rub the carpet as this can cause damage to the surface, instead you need to simply blot the spill until you reach the centre. Although this is a longer process, you will receive much better results.

Can I get my office carpet professionally cleaned?
If the spill remains evident even after following our recommendations above, feel free to get in touch. As professional cleaners with over 60 years industry experience in commercial carpet cleaning and office carpet cleaning covering Middlesbrough, Stockton, Hartlepool and Darlington we would love to help solve the problem. Also, if you would like to purchase our Ideal Cleaning Professional Spotter, please contact us on 01642 685 321

Tips to keep your Office Toilet Clean and Fresh!

Think about how many people are in your workplace, then think about how many times everyone uses the most common facility - the toilet. Although the toilet is something that is used frequently throughout each day, more often than not nobody will really give a thought about its cleanliness other than the cleaner or caretaker.

As office cleaning specialists, we thought we would put together some easy tips to help you make sure that your office toilet doesn’t become a bio-hazard and breed lots of bacteria which can be the culprit of employee sickness bugs!  Here they are:

  • The importance of having soap in your office or public toilet
The ultimate must have in any toilet whether it be in the office or at home is soap to kill the bacteria. Liquid soap dispensers are a popular option in public toilets being quick and simple to use, one thing to consider is making sure the dispensers themselves remain in good condition as they are likely to be pressed numerous times a day. We also recommend having a hand sanitiser available near the sink.

  • What else is important to keep your office toilet clean?
Whether it be the ladies or the gents, all toilets should have a seat. We recommend regularly checking the conditions of your office toilet seats to make sure they are still intact (hinges can often come loose) and to check they are kept to a clean standard. Seat covers are also something that you could consider.

  • What are the necessities in keeping an office toilet clean and fresh?
Another necessity is toilet paper which should always be available and constantly topped up. Not only that, think about how people dry their hands after washing them; perhaps you have hand dryers which need to function properly or provide cloth towels or disposable paper towels if you’re looking for a cheaper option. If you opt for towels, don’t forget to regularly empty the bins!

  • Create a office toilet cleaning checklist
By creating a checklist you can highlight the main tasks that need to be carried out and ensure that they are checked off at the end of each working day with your cleaner or caretaker. If you need help putting a checklist together, get in touch! Our team of professional cleaners are highly experienced in all aspects of cleaning, including toilet cleaning in commercial environments.

Last but not least, keep it smelling fresh! This can work as way of letting your employees know that it is a clean, hygienic environment and work as encouragement for them to maintain its cleanliness.

At Ideal Cleaning, we provide office cleaning services, including toilet cleaning in commercial properties throughout the Teesside area; Middlesbrough, Stockton, Hartlepool and Darlington. Whether your need a one-time visit from us to create a office toilet cleaning checklist or are looking for a regular cleaning service, we can help.

Keeping your office clean and tidy this summer!

Summer is great for many reasons, one that probably isn’t the first to spring to mind is that it is the best time to step back and take a look at your office’s appearance and cleanliness.

With employees likely to be taking annual leave days to jet off on holiday it provides an ideal opportunity to nail down on the cleaning and get tasks done that might evade you throughout the rest of the year. Not to mention, the sunlight beaming in makes the dirt instantly more visible! We’ve put together some office cleaning tips on things you could consider this sunny season:
  • Keep your desk clear
Dust builds up all year but chances are that you will only realise when the sun shines through and lights it all up. By making sure your desk is as tidy as possible at the end of the day not only will you feel organised and productive, you also minimise the chance of dust and crumbs building up amongst any clutter and papers.
  • Give the walls some attention
Most offices have light coloured walls which can show up marks particularly easily. With the weather being warmer you will be able to give your walls a wipe down and a lick of paint and have it dry off much quicker.
  • Dispose of food
Keeping food overnight in your office during the summer months is risky business! Even with air conditioning the heat can come through and make your food rotten, smelly and attract germs. Make a habit of throwing away any leftover foods before you leave for the night to avoid any smelly surprises the next day.
  • Cure the carpet
Given the amount of time that staff members spend in the office, it is always going to be difficult to keep the carpet clean. With less employees in the office over the Summer period, now is your chance to tackle those stains that have been catching your eye all year. Ever considered using a professional carpet cleaning service? Our environmentally friendly office cleaning solutions are available across the North East region and can banish carpet stains in one hour.

Whether your business requires a one-time summer clean or is looking for a regular cleaning service, at Ideal Cleaning we have over 60 years experience in providing professional office cleaning services in Middlesbrough, Stockton, Darlington and Hartlepool. We understand the importance of maintaining a clean working environment not only to for health and safety reasons but to ensure employees have a clean and comfortable work location which will ultimately promote productivity.
